Connect with the land:
Collect native bunch grasses and forbs for restoration work (optional).
Why we work here:
Arizona’s San Francisco Peaks shelter the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest and more than 200 rare species; the Little Colorado and Verde River watersheds provide drinking water for people and animals as well as rich habitat for wildlife.
Threats to this ecosystem:
Altered water flows, fire suppression, invasive exotic species, poor rangeland management.
What we do here:
Work with partners to restore native grasslands, protect contiguous areas and practice fire management, apply scientific tools to aid land and forest managers through planning, assessments, monitoring and research.
